League Basics

Leagues are the heart and soul of competition in Football Tycoon. Climbing the league ladder, earning promotions, and eventually reaching the prestigious Premier League is your primary long-term goal. Understanding how the league system works is key to crafting your path to glory.

🏟️ What Are Leagues?

Leagues represent the competitive structure of Football Tycoon. You’ll start at the bottom tier and work your way up by consistently winning matches, finishing at the top of your division, and earning promotions.

There are six main leagues, each with increasing difficulty and bigger rewards:

  1. D League (Starting League)
  2. C League
  3. B League
  4. A League
  5. Elite League
  6. Premier League (The top!)

Each time you’re promoted, you’ll face tougher opponents, but you’ll also unlock better sponsors, gain more fans, and earn more money.

League Structure

Each league consists of 20 teams, including yours. During the season, you’ll compete in weekly matches, aiming to finish in the top 3 positions to earn promotion.

Season Schedule

  • Matches take place every Sunday at 8 PM (game time).
  • You can wait for matches to happen in real-time, or fast-forward to the next match immediately.
  • League standings update after each match, based on points, goal difference, and wins.

Points System

  • Win = 3 points
  • Draw = 1 point
  • Loss = 0 points
Points determine your ranking in the league table at the end of the season.

🏆 Promotion & Relegation

Your league finish determines what happens at the end of the season:

  • Top 3 finishersPromotion to the next higher league!
  • Middle positions (4th-17th) ➜ Stay in the same league for another season.
  • Bottom 3 positions (18th-20th)Relegation to the league below.
  • Premier League exception: You can’t be promoted beyond the Premier League, but you still need to finish strong to avoid relegation and maximize fan growth.

🏅 Benefits of Promotion

  • Huge fan base boosts.
  • Access to higher-level sponsors with bigger payouts.
  • Increased stadium attendance and facility income.
  • Unlock Cup Competitions and special events in higher leagues.

⚠️ Consequences of Relegation

  • Lose fans.
  • Sponsors may cancel their deals if fan numbers drop.
  • Lower stadium revenue, as fewer fans attend matches.

📈 What Changes Between Leagues?

Higher leagues introduce:

  • Tougher competition: Rival teams have higher fitness and better coaches.
  • Increased fan expectations: Fans demand more wins, better stadium experiences, and lower tolerance for losing streaks.
  • Higher financial stakes: Bigger sponsorships and larger prize pools, but also higher costs to stay competitive (players, coaches, facilities).

🔥 Pro Tips for League Success

  1. Keep your team fitness high—it’s the biggest factor in match outcomes.
  2. Upgrade training and stadium facilities before moving to a higher league.
  3. Scout and buy better players before facing tougher teams in higher leagues.
  4. Hire a new coach after promotions for a fresh performance bonus boost.
  5. Balance stadium pricing—don’t drive fans away with high prices, especially in a new league where you’ll have more supporters.
  6. Plan for promotion windows: Make big strategic moves before the end of the season if you’re close to the top.

Leagues Are Your Gateway to Glory

Climbing the league system is how you build your football legacy. Promotions bring new opportunities, greater challenges, and higher rewards. Play smart, manage well, and lead your team all the way to the Premier League championship!
