Scouting and Buying Players
Scouting and Buying Players
One of the most exciting parts of Football Tycoon is building your dream team. To stay competitive, you’ll need to scout, buy, and replace players strategically. Better players mean higher fitness, better match performance, and more wins, so knowing how to scout effectively and make smart transfers is essential.
🕵️ How Scouting Works
The Scouting Screen allows you to find new players to add to your team. Every hour in the game, a new set of six players is available for scouting. You can:
- Scroll through the list to view different players.
- See each player’s stats, including their role, age, fitness level, and price.
- Compare players to your existing squad to decide whether to buy or pass.
Scouted players range from 1-star rookies to 5-star superstars. The higher the star rating, the better their starting fitness and overall potential.
🎲 How Player Stars Are Determined
The players available for scouting are generated based on your current team’s average rating:
- 50% chance of a player matching your team’s current average rating.
- 15% chance of being 1-star higher.
- 10% chance of being 2-stars higher.
- 15% chance of being 1-star lower.
- 10% chance of being 2-stars lower.
- One guaranteed 5-star player in every roll.
💰 Buying and Selling Players
Once you find a player you want, you have two options:
- Buy them outright if you have enough funds.
- Replace an existing player—this automatically sells the old player to offset the cost.
🔄 Player Prices & Fitness
Player prices are calculated based on their fitness level:
Price = Player’s Fitness × Price Modifier
This means fitter players cost more, but they also contribute immediately to your team’s performance.
If you sell a player, you’ll receive a portion of their value based on their current fitness. Selling is useful when:
- You need cash to upgrade other parts of your club.
- A better player is available, and you want to replace an old one.
- The player is getting older and losing effectiveness.
⏳ Player Age & Retirement
Every player has a random starting age between 20 and 30. Over time, players age, and their performance may decline.
Once a player reaches retirement age (randomly between 31 and 40), they will leave the team automatically, meaning you’ll need to replace them.
To stay ahead, regularly check the ages of your players and plan replacements early. If your squad is full of aging players, your team’s overall fitness will drop, making it harder to win matches.
🔥 Pro Tips:
- Scout frequently to find undervalued, high-fitness players.
- Sell aging players early before their value drops too much.
- Prioritize fitness over age when making transfers. A high-fitness 30-year-old is better than a low-fitness 22-year-old.
- Use sponsors and fundraisers to make enough money for better transfers.
- Don’t hoard money too much—spending on strong players will pay off in wins, fan growth, and sponsorship deals.
A well-managed transfer strategy will keep your team at the top. Scout wisely, buy smart, and keep upgrading your squad!
